Crowd gathers for production of Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones film
Stonington -- Filming continues in the borough on the set of the major motion picture "Great Hope Springs."
By 11 a.m., co-stars Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones had done about a dozen takes of a 30-second scene where they stroll down Water Street. Several locals are positioned as extras in the background of the scene, but the public was cordoned off at such a distance that none of the actors' dialogue could be heard.
A truck sprayed the street with water, possibly adding credence to rumors that the plot includes a Nor'easter. Several onlookers are still onhand, though some of the original dozens of fans have drifted away over the course of the morning.
Yellow and black GHS signs — Great Hope Springs — have been posted directing folks to the shooting set and to "Base Camp." It looks like the day's first footage will be shot outside the barber shop at 117 Water Street.
