Questions remain in death of O'Loughlin

I am writing because it has been six months since the arrest of Ryan O'Loughlin by three Westerly police officers and the apparent beating he received while in police custody. I understand these three officers are still performing their normal duties which suggests that a full, unbiased investigation has not taken place. Since policemen should be held to a higher standard than criminals and the public, the public should rightfully be appalled by this lack of action and should be concerned about its safety.

Facts: 1) This young man had a dozen points of trauma on his body suggesting he was beaten.

    2) The Connecticut Medical Examiner who performed O'Loughlin's autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

    3) Six months have passed since this incident without action; this is unacceptable.

We, the public, request a grand jury be immediately convened by the attorney general of Rhode Island, Peter Kilmartin, to conduct a full, unbiased investigation of O'Loughlin's arrest and the apparent beating he received while in police custody.
