A funeral service will be held today for Roxane Page Simmons, the mother of former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons of Stonington. She died just shy of her 100th birthday. Mrs. Simmons was a lifelong Democrat and her son, the former Republican congressman from Connecticut's Second District, says they enjoyed many lively political discussions over the years.

There will also be a local memorial service April 28.
