From a storm drain at Morse Avenue and Shepard Street in Groton on Tuesday, City of Groton firefighter Jeremiah Gilmour describes the location of a stray kitten that had fallen into the drain and was found in a pipe several yards away. He is speaking with acting Capt. Ray Hart, center, of the City of Groton fire department, and Sgt. Jad Bickford, left, and Officer Bobby Harris, both of the City of Groton Police Department. In the background, neighbors try to coax the mother of the kitten to the drain in hopes of luring the kitten out. Eventually firefighters used a pressurized fire extinguisher to spray at the cat from another storm drain, causing it to run to Rob Ormond, a neighbor, who was waiting at the other end.
