State police say man in Bozrah field suffered 'violent death'

Bozrah – The man found in a Bozrah field Tuesday morning died a “violent death,” said state police, who Wednesday afternoon stopped short of calling the death a homicide.

Lt. J. Paul Vance, state police spokesman, said a tentative identification has been made of the man found at Ray Hayward Memorial Field on Route 163. A post-mortem examination of the body is expected Thursday, Vance said.

The man, found at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, was pronounced dead on scene. Police said the man was from the Norwich/Groton area, and ask anyone who may have information about the incident to call state police at (860) 537-7500.

Vance said state police have “developed good information” in the ongoing investigation and that detectives have been working nonstop on the case.
