UPDATED: Power restored to Mystic sewer plant
As of 2:35 p.m. power has been restored to the Mystic sewer plant which will allow operators to process sewage and stop it from backing up into residents' homes.
The restoration occured just as a hair salon on Williams Avenue (Route 1) reported a sewage backup and a home on Sloop Lane reported a small of sewage.
This morning, emergency officials said it would only be matter of hours before sewage began bracing up into homes because of generator problems.
While no untreated sewage has been released into the Mystic River, the power outage and generator problems had forced plant operators to back up sewage in the plant.
Meanwhile Haberek and other town officials expressed even more frustration this morning with CL&P because the utility only has one crew working here with town highway department crews to clear trees and power lines.
But Haberek has since learned from CL&P President Bill Quinlan that nine crews will be in town.
