Westerly – Matt Mitchell's 95-yard kickoff return with seven minutes remaining proved to be the game-winner as Stonington held on for a 34-32 victory over Westerly in the 153rd meeting of the oldest continious Thanksgiving Day high school football game.
Divante White threw three touchdown passes, including a 20-yard strike to Brendan Gayowski on the final play of the half, and Zach Poirier ran 56 yards for another TD as the Bears finished the regular season 8-2 and just missed out on making the Class S playoffs.
