You don't know how pleased I was to open to your Opinion Page on Thanksgiving morning and read President Lincoln's 1863 Thanksgiving Proclamation. How fitting, meaningful and relevant in today's world, with reference to "the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God ... the gracious gifts of the Most High God," "praise to our beneficent Father" and "the interposition of the Almighty hand," reasons for our giving thanks.
I hope that your readers took the time to read and reflect on that "proclamation" in the midst of the "mountains" of secular advertisements and the rush to get to "Black Friday." Great job, Day!
