A holiday palette at Flo Gris Museum

Visitors check out Miss Florence's Artist Tree at the Florence Griswold Museum.

The Florence Griswold Museum breaks out its show that has become - as its title notes - a holiday tradition. "The Magic of Christmas, A Holiday Tradition" opens Saturday and remains on view through Jan. 6, highlighting the artist-painted palettes adorning a 12-foot tree. The galleries boast, too, Fantasy Trees that take their inspiration from the Flo Gris exhibitions "White on White: Churches of Rural New England" and "The Art of First Lady Ellen Axson Wilson: American Impressionist."

The Florence Griswold House, meanwhile, is decorated as if it's Christmas 1910. The museum is at 96 Lyme St., Old Lyme, and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday; (860) 434-5542.
