Have a very Con Brio holiday

The tradition continues for Con Brio and its holiday concerts. This year's shows - which happen Friday night and Sunday afternoon at Christ the King Church in Old Lyme - bring together sacred and secular pieces.

Gwyneth Walker, a well-known composer, comes to the Con Brio concert once again as the choral group performs her Christmas work "Rejoice."

Leading the chorus will be Director Stephen Bruce. Providing support, too, will be Susan Saltus, who is Con Brio associate music director and keyboardist.

The program boasts Handel's Dixit Dominus, Healey Willan's The Three Kings, and Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata. Con Brio will celebrate Hanukkah with a performance of "Ocho Kandelikas."

Soprano Patricia Schuman will be the featured soloist in Moses Hogan's "Glory, Glory." Other soloists include soprano Danielle Munsell Howard, alto Clea Huston, tenor Bill Sorensen, and bass Karl Stofko.

The Con Brio Festival Orchestra plays, and audience singalongs, as always, are part of the event.
