    Cox, Yeary named Sailors of the Year

    Groton - The senior and junior Sailors of the Year for both sea and shore commands at Submarine Group Two were announced at an awards banquet at the Submarine Force Library and Museum on Dec. 6.

    Machinist's Mate First Class William Cox, assigned to USS Montpelier (SSN 765), was selected as the senior Sailor of the Year for an at sea command and Machinist's Mate First Class Jared Yeary, assigned to the Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department New London, was selected as the senior Sailor of the Year for a shore command.

    Machinist's Mate Second Class Mark Frank, assigned to USS Springfield (SSN 761), was selected as the junior Sailor of the Year for an at sea command. Sonar Technician Submarines Second Class Antwan Haywood, assigned to Group Two, was selected as the junior Sailor of the Year for a shore command.

    The senior Sea and Shore Sailors of the Year who were nominated include: Machinist's Mate First Class John Kelley, USS California; Sonar Technician Submarines First Class Ross Paterson, USS Pittsburgh; Religious Petty Officer First Class Robert Buston, Submarine Squadron Six; Yeoman First Class Erin Ervin, Submarine Forces Atlantic; Machinist's Mate First Class Ricardo Mora, Naval Submarine Torpedo Facility Yorktown; Machinist's Mate First Class James Richards, Naval Submarine Support Facility New London; and Electrician's Mate First Class Jonathan Sword, PMT New London.

    The junior Sea and Shore Sailors of the Year who were nominated include: Electronics Technician Second Class Ryan Shannon, USS Pasadena; Machinist's Mate Second Class Sean Young, USS Newport News; Electronics Technician Second Class Daniel Walters, USS Miami; Electronics Technician Second Class Max Ellis, Submarine Forces Atlantic; Machinist's Mate Second Class Jared Fouke, Submarine Squadron Six; Machinist's Mate Second Class Donald Smith, Naval Submarine Torpedo Facility Yorktown; and Machinist's Mate Second Class David Waldren, Naval Submarine Support Facility New London.
