Brown leaving UConn for Boston College

Don Brown, defensive coordinator at UConn for two seasons, will leave the Huskies to take the same position under new head coach Steve Addazio at Boston College.

Brown's departure was first reported by Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com on Wednesday morning and later confirmed in a release from Boston College.

Brown, 57, joined Paul Pasqualoni's coaching staff in 2010 and his defense has been a strong suit for the Huskies, even though UConn went 5-7 each of his two seasons.

UConn ranked 10th nationally in total defense in 2012, including seventh in rushing defense. They ranked No. 4 nationally in rushing defense in 2011, allowing just 85.7 yards per game.

In other news, three of Brown's defensive stars accepted invitations to play in the prestigious Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala. - end Trevardo Williams and cornerbacks Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Dwayne Gratz.

Williams, a Bridgeport Central graduate, was a first team All-Big East selection and broke UConn's career record for sacks (30.5) while Wreh-Wilson and Gratz were both second team All-Big East picks.
