Gallery Exhibition & Reception - Jay Babina & John Tubb
Exhibition - Jan 2 - Feb 28, 2012
Reception & Winter Carnivale in Chester - Sun, Feb 17, 1 - 4 pm
Come enjoy our winter exhibition featuring scenes of the land and sea by Jay Babina and John Tubb. The artists’ reception will be held during the Winter Carnivale in Chester where you can find ice carving, a tractor parade, a chili cook-off and gallery receptions throughout town. Sip a glass of wine and stay warm as you view their work inspired by the New England coastline.
Jay’s work takes him both outside painting plein air and inside the studio. His interest varies from the scenic beauty he encounters in his travels to subjects he seeks out. Beyond the total enjoyment of being involved in the artistic process, he also prizes all the wonderful artist friends whom he has met along his path of artistic exploration.
Specializing in seascapes and marine subjects, John also paints portraits and landscapes in many different mediums, including oil, watercolor and acrylic. While sailing small boats in the bays and harbors bordering Long Island Sound, he developed a sense of light and mood uniquely suited to marine art. Each painting is the result of research in restored historical boats, old charts showing the position of navigational aids and lighthouses that no longer exist. He captures the sweep, grandeur and varied moods of the sea as it was in time gone by.
