New Haven - Joseph Carter broke a meet record and his own school record in the 300-meter race, helping the Ledyard High School boys' indoor track and field team win the team title at Saturday's Haddam-Killingworth Invitational at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Carter's time of of 35.58 beat the school record of 35.84 he sat last week and also earned him a spot in the championship division of the national indoor meet later this winter.

Ledyard, which finished with 43 points to beat Old Saybrook by eight, also set a meet record in the 4x200 as Carter, Alex Paterson, Steven Servedio and Alex Hintz-Valdez won in 1:33.71.

Also for the Colonels, Paterson was second in the 300 (36.86), Servedio was second in the long jump (19-4½), Kyle Wilson was third in the shot put (44-9¼) and Ben Bruciati was sixth in the 600.

For New London, Orrin Parke won the 55 dash (6.72) while the 4x200 relay team of Parke, Jose Garcia, Nico Ramos and Gabriel Diaz placed second (1:35.09), Garcia was third in the long jump (19-4) and sixth in the 300 (37.85) and the 4x400 relay team of Brayan Mora, Doug Foy, Olajuwan Chau and Gabriel Diaz was fourth in 3:46.

For Waterford, Julio Gil-Martinez was second in the 55 dash (6.79) and third in the 300 (37.03) while Jordan Jones was third in the 55 hurdles (8.28) and Chris Jones was fourth in the 55 dash (6.86).

In other meets:

• Fitch's Andrew Perez won the pole vault at the East Coast Invitational at Providence and teammate Lexus Gordon set a school record in the triple jump. Perez reached 11-feet and Gordon finished fourth at 41-3. The Falcons got second-place finishes from Tyler Latham (55 hurdles), Patrick Kirkwood (shot put), Eric Powers (pole vault), Gordon (long jump) and the 4x200 relay team of Chris Bond, Frank Norosky, Latham and Randall Rissing.

Fitch also got fourths from Mustapha Noibi (55 dash), Lake Wyld (400), Johnny Diep (pole vault) and the 4x400 relay team of Clifford Randolph, Luis Crisostomo, Wyld and Bond. Rissing also finished sixth in the 55 dash.

Girls

• Ledyard won three events to finish second during the Haddam-Killingworth Invite. Tolland won the meet with 64 points and Ledyard finished with 46 points.

Chenoa Sebastian won the 55 hurdles (8.74), Adedoyan Ledoja won the shot put (36-3½) and the 4x200 relay team of Sebastian, Brooke Scahill, Savannah Johnson and Alex Lee won in 1:54.65.

Also for the Colonels, Austin Graber was second in the pole vault (9 feet) and Cassy Coates was fifth (7-6), Johnson was fourth in the long jump (16-1) and Jordan Houdeshell was fifth in the 3,200 (12:32.5).

For New London, Francine Jacque won the 300 and set a meet record in 42.40, and also placed second in the 55 (7.44) while Mercedes Santos won the high jump (5-2) and placed sixth in the long jump (15-9).

• Jaryn Burgis of Fitch finished second in the shot put at the East Coast Invitational and teammate Candy Grief was third. Ebony Bell finished fifth in the long jump.
