Hewett comment was never a true scandal

After reading several articles, public opinion pieces and hearing the recording surrounding the Rep. Ernest Hewett "scandal," I am appalled at how a seemingly innocent comment was taken so far out of context.

We have heard all of the back and forth over calling for his resignation, him being stripped of his deputy speaker post and the railroading that followed. What was not reported was the laughter and giggling that ensued immediately after the comment by members of the house as well as the 17-year-old girl to whom which the comment was made.

Mr. Hewett is entitled to due process and not snap judgment by the R-members of the House or the house of public opinion. What we should be focusing on here, are the issues surrounding education, education reform, school safety and gun control.
