New London - A car became lodged on the north steps of The Parade on Monday afternoon when a confused driver tried to follow verbal directions, said a New London police officer.

The driver had been coming down State Street at approximately 1:40 p.m. with directions to take a left at Water Street, said the officer, but he took the left too early and drove across the plaza. His car became stuck on the steps that lead down to Atlantic Street.

An AAA tow truck arrived at 1:55 p.m. to remove the car from the steps. No one was injured.
