Motorcyclist dies in crash outside Harley-Davidson store in New London

New London — A female motorcyclist who was pulling out of the Mike’s Famous Harley-Davidson store on Bank Street Saturday afternoon died after her motorcycle collided with a commercial box truck, police said.

The 52-year-old motorcyclist’s name is being withheld pending notification of her family.

Police said the preliminary investigation shows the motorcyclist was planning on turning right out of Mike's Famous, at 951 Bank St., onto the westbound lane of Bank Street (Route 1). Instead, she crossed the double yellow line and struck a box truck on the eastbound lane. The accident was reported at 1:14 p.m.
