His situation: A resident of the shelter for five-and-a-half months, 26-year-old Chris has a new job and a new apartment. He also has a two-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.

What to give: The kids could use age-appropriate toys and clothes. Chris needs a large coat and any necessities for a new apartment — light bulbs, blankets, gift cards — would come in handy as they settle in.

To donate: Contact New London Community Meal Center manager Peta Madry at (860) 444-7745 or drop off at the facility, 12 Montauk Ave., New London.
