New London — Police are searching for a 31-year-old city man they said went missing early Sept. 8.

According to police, James Kozik was reported missing Sept. 13. He’s described as a black male who has black hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 172 pounds.

According to his longtime friend, Cas McDonald, Kozik often took nighttime walks but went later than usual, or about 1 a.m., on Sept. 8. From his prepaid cell phone that night, he texted his significant other, Kay Richards, that he loved her and was going to be home in 20 minutes, McDonald said.

Kozik, an Air Force veteran who suffers seizures and has been diagnosed with PTSD, never returned home. Richards said the online account for his phone shows it hasn’t been used since Sept. 8.

Posters Richards is circulating say Kozik was wearing a T-shirt and shorts with red sneakers when he left.
