U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, was appointed to serve on a committee of lawmakers who will work on a final version of the 2018 defense policy bill.

The Senate and House have both passed their own versions of the bill, which sets spending limits and guidelines for the Department of Defense, and now differences between those two bills must be reconciled.

Courtney said in a statement that he would continue to seek bipartisan support for Connecticut priorities, such as submarine construction, and "ensure that our region is well placed in the final bill."
