Make a Difference: Thames River Family Program
WHO: Marie is a young mother with two young sons, ages 5 and 7 months.
AGENCY: Thames River Family Program
THEIR SITUATION: Marie came to Thames River Family Program after she lost her job and was unable to pay rent. She reunited with her son through the program, and she and her family have recently moved into a permanent home with her savings but have no assistance from other family members or the children's father. She plans to continue learning English and hopes to complete her GED to get a better job to support her family.
WHAT TO DONATE: Her 5-year-old is in need of shoes, especially winter boots size 13, and her baby could use a winter coat and footed pajamas. He wears size 9-12 months. When asked about what she needed, Marie said she only wanted her children to have a nice Christmas. They could use gift cards for groceries and other household items, bus tickets and any age-appropriate toys.
TO DONATE: Contact Shanda Easley at Thames River Community Service, 1 Thames River Place, Norwich, CT 06360, or call (860) 887-3288.
