Essex Winter Series starts 2018 season today in Deep River
Let's get this out of the way first: it's only the first week of January and there are no new "it's cold" jokes left. As such, let's all just celebrate the Essex Winter Series as it is: A deluxe opportunity to appreciate fine music concerts in the heart of this most brisk season.
Their 41st campaign kicks off today with a performance by the New York Woodwind Quintet, joined by pianist/Essex artistic director Mihae Lee. The program includes works by Bach, Mozard, Poulenc, Monteverdi and Haas.
Other concerts in the 2018 season include Feb. 18, Vince Giorgano & the Nighthawks; March 4, bass/baritone David Pittsinger; and April 8, The Quodlibet Ensemble.
All concerts take place at 3 p.m. at Valley Regional High School, Kelsey Hill Road, Deep River. Tickets are $35, $5 for students. Call (860) 272-4572 or visit essexwinterseries.com.
