Stonington hires Solomon as girls' soccer coach

Stonington — Jennifer Solomon has been hired as the varsity girls' soccer coach at Stonington High School, athletic director Bryan Morrone announced Sunday night.

Solomon, the former Jennifer Sullivan, was a standout player at Stonington and UConn. She was the head girls' soccer coach at Ledyard High School from 2013-16. She replaces veteran coach Dave Walsh, who stepped down after last season.

"Her experience, knowledge and passion for the game will definitely push our girls' team and continue the great soccer tradition in the Stonington community,'' said Morrone in a release. "We are thrilled to have her.''

The Stonington Hall of Famer was a four-year starter for the Huskies and then an assistant coach for the Providence College women's soccer team.
