    Tigers snap losing streak with rain-shortened win

    The Connecticut Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 2-1 rain-shortened win over the Staten Island Yankees on Saturday at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.

    The game was called after 4 1/2 innings and the second game of the scheduled doubleheader was washed out and will not be rescheduled. The teams play another doubleheader at Dodd on Sunday, starting at 3 p.m.

    The Yankees (26-26) scored a run in the top of the first inning but the Tigers (24-27) took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Alexis Garcia singled home Darwin Alvarado to tie the game and Cam Warner followed with a double that scored Reece Hampton. Gresuan Silverio also doubled for the Tigers.

    Jose Vasquez (5-1) got the win, allowing four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
