New London police invite public to have coffee with officers
New London — City police will be holding a "Coffee with Cops" event next week at Muddy Waters downtown.
The event are held every third Wednesday of each month. The next one will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at the cafe at 42 Bank St.
The department "believes that effective policing is done with the help of an engaged and involved public, and that police must be available to the public that it serves," it said in the news release announcing the event. Residents are invited to ask questions, bring up concerns or just take it as an opportunity to get to know their neighborhood police officers. You can even take a selfie with the chief, the department said in the release.
