Trekking to be taught in Norwich
Norwich — Students and staff from the Stanton Network School walked along New London Turnpike on Wednesday for their third annual Walk to School Day.
The event, during which participants gather at the nearby East Great Plain firehouse and walk from there to the school, is part of the International Walk to School Day that began in 1997 as a movement for year-round safe routes to school for students. The Stanton event was escorted by Norwich police and East Great Plain Fire Department.
The walk was followed by a coat distribution by Operation Warm in partnership with Ivory Ella for all 330 students in the school.
