Norwich sewer work to close portion of Broadway Monday

Norwich — The one-way portion of Broadway between Willow Street and Huntington Place will be closed Monday to allow Norwich Public Utilities crews to repair a century-old sewer pipe showing signs of failure.

The work is scheduled to be done between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday. Northbound traffic on Broadway will be re-routed away from the project area down Willow Street near City Hall to McKinley Avenue. NPU will assist with traffic control in the area throughout the day.

NPU and its contractor, Green Mountain Pipe, will repair the 650-foot section of pipe without digging a trench on Huntington Place, NPU spokesman Chris Riley said. The sewer line, installed in the late 1800s, runs beneath Huntington Place.
