New London — Adrian Cicero was a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter as New London pulled away for a 59-47 boys' basketball victory over Bacon Academy on Saturday night.

The Whalers (2-6) outscored Bacon 20-12 in the fourth quarter en route to snapping a five-game losing streak. The game was tied 26-26 at halftime.

Davon Benjamin scored a team-high 18 points to lead New London while Noah James added 11 points, Camaree Williams finished with eight points and 13 rebounds, and Derek Raymond pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.

In other games:

• Seamus Graves scores 11 points as Fitch edged Ledyard 54-52. Kiev Lucas and Ajia Brown added 10 points apiece for the Falcons (5-3) while Omar Whitemore scored a game-high 19 points for the Colonels (3-5) and Ken Turner finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

• Norwich Free Academy blitzed Killingly in the first quarter, opening up a 22-8 lead en route to a 73-37 victory over Killingly. Mason Jackson scored 22 points to lead the Wildcats (7-3) while Xavier Marquez added 16. They also made two 3-pointers apiece.

• Nate Diaz made seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points as No. 7 East Lyme cruised to an 84-41 win over Woodstock Academy. Dev Ostrowski also scored 23 points for the Vikings (8-1), who led 41-21 at halftime, while Drew Menghi added 10 in a game where East Lyme made 11 3-pointers.

Girls' basketball

• Megan Bauman scored a game-high 18 points as East Lyme rolled to a 51-29 victory over Fitch. Katie Durkee added 15 for the Vikings (7-5) while Frankie Foster led the Falcons (4-7) with eight points and Charlotte Carney pulled down 16 rebounds.

• Sarah Ericson scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, as NFA won its fourth straight game with a 45-21 win over Ledyard. Riley Ellington also made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points for the Wildcats (6-5) while Samantha Money scored six points to lead the Colonels (3-6).

• Plainfield beat St. Bernard 45-17. Lindsey Clement led St. Bernard (3-6) with eight points.

Hockey

• The Eastern Connecticut Eagles remained unbeaten in the Nutmeg Hockey Conference with an 8-4 win over Housatonic/NW Regional/Wamogo/Torrington. Kyle Jacobson had three goals and an assist to lead the Eagles (6-3, 6-0), while Will Cannella added two goals and one assist, Ryan Huta and Evan Tower had one goal and one assist apiece, Trent Hughson and Devyn Jordan had two assists apiece and Ashton Baltes, moving up from defense to wing, scored his first goal of the season.

Wrestling

• Mason Concacsia (106 pounds) pinned all three of his opponents as Waterford won all three matches and captured the Ellis Tech Duals. The Lancers (13-3) defeated New Fairfield 54-21, Branford 46-34 and Ellis Tech 46-35. Logan Smith (113), AJ Sachatello (152) and Jacob Gannotti (170) also went 3-0 for Waterford while Tyler Radack (132), Eric Zane (138), Donald Mellon (145), Elijah Morosky (195) and Jeremiah Harshberger (220) all went 2-1.

• East Lyme went 2-0 at the John Williams Duals, defeating host Rockville 48-18 and Windsor 36-27. Dante Bustamante (120), David Stankoski (126), Michael Minevich (145), Everett Minevich (152), Anthony Enos (160) and Corey Filewich (182) all went 2-0 for the Vikings (2-8).

Indoor track

• Stonington's Rhys Hammond set a school record in the 1,000-meter race and qualified for the New Balance Nationals during the 50th Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H. Hammond finished second in 2:31.85 and helped the Bears finish fifth overall in the competitive meet. Hammond also teamed with Ben Abely, Graham Johnstone and Joey Hinckley to place second in the sprint medley relay (3:36.51), also qualifying for the nationals. Also for Stonington, Hinckley was second in the pole vault (13 feet, 6 inches) while the 4x400 relay of Chase Flynn, Johnstone, Hinckley and Hammond was fourth (3:33.40) and the 4x200 relay of Abely, Johnstone, Martin Vernet and Hinckley was sixth (1:36.87).

In the girls' meet, Stonington's 4x800 relay of Rachel Sabbadini, Jessica Detwiler, Megan Detwiler and Lindsey Orr finished third (10:00.92) and Orr set a school record en route to a seventh place finish in the 1,000 (3:08.50).

• Ledyard's James Smith place in a pair of sprinting events at the Shoreline Conference Coaches' Invitational at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. Smith was second in the 300-meter dash in 37.34 seconds and third in the 55 in 6.73.

In the girls' meet, Ledyard's Nadia Helme was third in the 55 (7.73), Olivia Crawford was fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.65) and the sprint medley relay team of Helme, Crawford, Hannah Avila and Katherine Harren qualified for the state meet by placing sixth in 4:48.70.

Fencing

• Ishan Walia went undefeated as NFA swept an ECC boys' tri-meet from New London and Ledyard. The Wildcats defeated Ledyard 7-2 and New London 6-3 in foil, then beat the Colonels 5-4 and Whalers 8-1 in epee. New London beat Ledyard 6-3 in foil while Ledyard beat New London 7-2 in epee.

In the girls' meet, New London swept the foil with wins over Ledyard 5-4 and NFA 5-4, while Ledyard beat NFA 7-2 in foil and NFA beat Ledyard 7-2 in the only epee match contested.
