David Dorfman named U.S. Artists Fellow in Dance

David Dorfman, who is a dance professor at Connecticut College and who is artistic director of the acclaimed David Dorfman Group, has been named a 2019 United States Artists Fellow in Dance.

United States Artists is an independent nonprofit and nongovernmental philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting the work of American artists.

Each year, United States Artists awards these fellowships to artists selected from a wide range of creative disciplines. Fellows each receive from USA $50,000 in unrestricted funding, which support the artists in their contributions to the arts.

In a statement, Dorfman said, "I have been thinking: Is this the opportunity to do something really unusual? Could this be seed money to start a different kind of collaboration? I love the idea that, with this fellowship, I have the opportunity to get up in the morning and dream in any way, shape or form."
