Norwich Rotary seeks diversity award nominees

Norwich — The Norwich Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2019 Lottie B. Scott Diversity Award and the Community Diversity Award to be presented Sept. 16 during the annual Celebrate Cultural Diversity event at the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park at Norwich Harbor.

Nominees must work or reside in the Norwich Rotary service area, which includes Norwich, Griswold, Ledyard and Bozrah. The recipients must agree to receive the award in person on Sept. 16 at the Celebrate Cultural Diversity event at 7 p.m. at Brown Park.

The Lottie B. Scott Diversity Award, named for the inaugural recipient, was established in 2013 at Norwich Rotary’s first Celebrate Cultural Diversity event recognizing the achievements of an individual who has enhanced cultural interactions in the community. The nominee will be recognized for efforts to promote cultural equality, opportunity and understanding within the community.

The Rotary Community Diversity Award, established in 2016, was created to honor an organization for the same effort. Nominee Organizations must have a significant effect on diversity in the Norwich Rotary Service Area, encourage and promote activities that bring members of diverse cultures together and promote activities that further cultural awareness and education.

The recipient will be notified by Sept. 7.
