Lyme-Old Lyme High School teacher under investigation
Old Lyme — State police confirmed Thursday that a male teacher is under investigation for a “suspicious incident” at Lyme-Old Lyme High School. State police said the incident was not classified as an “incident of sexual misconduct” and that the investigation is ongoing.
The investigation began on Aug. 28 and is being investigated by a “constable,” or a police officer with Old Lyme police, state police said. They could not provide any further comment.
Sources told The Day this week that a male high school teacher is under investigation for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a former student of the school while she was a student.
When asked for comment about the matter Monday, Superintendent Ian Neviaser said he would not talk about a personnel matter. He declined to answer questions on Thursday.
State police said the teacher, whom they would not identify, was teaching at the school on Thursday.
Naviaser and the Region 18 school district had not yet responded to several FOI requests filed Monday by The Day. A message left with the Board of Education chairperson was not returned Thursday.
