Griswold — Supporters of school athletic programs in Griswold plunge into the chilly waters of Ashland Pond on Thursday during the annual Griswold Booster Club Turkey Dip.
The event raises money for sports programs at all levels in the town schools, from elementary through high school. About 50 people raised about $1,200 from pledges, T-shirt sales and a 50/50 raffle, and about two dozen took the actual plunge.
Griswold High School raised another $500 through a "Penny War" that sent the top-penny-receiving teacher into the water.
SNSN radio provided a soundtrack and countdown for the plungers.
