The Katharine Hepburn Center will begin 'Saturday Cinema' series

The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center will begin a “Saturday Cinema” series on Aug. 8.

The Kate is following guidelines issued by the Connecticut Business Reopening and Recovery Center, and patrons will have to adhere to several rules, including wearing masks and social distancing.

“We’re excited to welcome patrons back into our theater as we begin to safely reopen. We’ve missed the hum of music, the jokes of comedians, the drama of theater, and sharing the arts and more,” said executive director Brett Elliott. “We’ve planned accordingly and are taking every precaution to keep our patrons safe.”

All screenings are at 7 p.m. with limited capacity so patrons are advised to purchase tickets in advance. Tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for kids 12 and younger.

    The schedule includes:

August 8: "Raiders of the Lost Ark"

    August 15: "Madagascar"

    August 22: "Thor: Ragnarok"

    August 29: "Aladdin"

Two years ago, the Kate upgraded its technical equipment so the films will be shown using a state-of-the-art 4k projector with surround sound.
