Waterford — When one is dedicated to his work, little can stand in the way.

Jim Kennedy of East Lyme was working on a snowy scene with oil paints Thursday at Harkness Memorial State Park. A member of the Lyme Art Association, he was wearing hand warmers and multiple layers to ward off the cold.

"I try to get outside and paint every chance I get these days," he said, "even if there's snow on the ground."
