New London – The Grand Menorah Lighting Festival kicks off the first night of Hanukkah on Sunday, Nov. 28 on the Parade. Hosted by the Chabad of Eastern Connecticut, the event featured a menorah lighting, live music and treats. Rabbi Avrohom Sternberg lit the giant menorah with assistance from Mayor Michael Passero and musical accompaniment by the Klezmer Ensemble. "We've been apart for so long in COVID it's nice to celebrate something together," said attendee Maryashi Sternberg. The Chabad has been hosting the event for almost 30 years, and the giant menorah will continue to be lit every night of the eight-day holiday.
