Man facing charges after Mohegan Police cruiser struck in Bozrah
Bozrah — State police said a Meriden man is facing charges after a Mohegan Police cruiser was struck while trying to conduct a traffic stop.
State police from the Troop K barracks were alerted last Thursday at 7:15 a.m. to be on the lookout for a black or red Mini Cooper, said to be heading westbound on Route 2 after striking the Mohegan Police cruiser, according to the police report.
"Troop K dispatch announced that the Mini Cooper was involved in a crash or had become disabled on Route 2 westbound in the area of Exit 22," police said in the report.
Police said Jean C. Colon, 26, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and interfering with an officer, and also received a summons for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license and improper use of marker or registration.
Police said he is due at GA-21 courthouse in Norwich on Dec. 9.
