Norwich man charged in New London shooting

New London — Police on Monday arrested a Norwich man in connection with a shooting incident last year in the area of Blackhall and Prest streets in New London.

Stowe Surasak, 23, of 50 Lake St., No. 1, is charged with reckless endangerment, criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of weapon in a motor vehicle and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The arrest was the result of an investigation by New London police into a July 30, 2021, report of multiple gunshots fired in the area of Blackhall and Prest streets. Responding police found two dozen 9 mm shell casings in the immediate area, along with bullet holes in several vehicles, according to the arrest warrant affidavit in the case.

Investigation into the shooting, aided by footage from city surveillance cameras, determined Surasak had fired multiple rounds at two victims, police allege. There were no known injuries.

Surasak, who appeared in New London Superior Court on Monday, was ordered held on $200,000 bond. He is due to appear in court again on April 21.
