    Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut presents awards

    Groton — About 250 people attended the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s annual meeting, which was held March 31 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa.

    Fourteen special awards were presented to businesses and individuals, according to a news release from the chamber.

    Recipients were: Aces High RV Park of East Lyme, Small Business of the Year; Antonino Auto Group, which has sites throughout southeastern Connecticut, Business of the Year; Ornet Hines, who works in Norwich, Volunteer of the Year; The Tin Peddler of North Stonington, New Business Award; Healthy PlanEat of East Lyme, Industry Innovator; Spark Makerspace of New London, Community Revitalization Leader; and UCFS Healthcare of southeastern Connecticut, Nonprofit of the Year.

    Also, Reliance Health of Norwich, Best Place to Work; Mystic Aquarium, Tourism Leader of the Year; Bell Power Systems of Essex, Dominion Clean Energy Award; Wilmer Lambert, who works in Groton, and Kaiser Leuze of Brooklyn, Young Professionals of the Year; General Dynamics/Electric Boat of Groton, Board of Directors Special Award; Artreach of Norwich, Outstanding Arts & Cultural Organization Award; and Cumulus Media of New London, Outstanding Business Supporter of Arts & Culture Award.

    Mary Ellen Jukoski, president of Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, was elected chairwoman of the chamber’s board, replacing Stephen Coan, president of Mystic Aquarium.
