Literary Types: Susanne Davis’ latest work, ‘Gravity Hill,’ a mystery with a difference

    Susanne Davis, author

Susanne Davis is the author of "Gravity Hill,“ a mystery wrought with love, overcoming loss, and closure. The protagonist, Jordan, is a friend. The characters are comforting and smart. Her book flows like Hemingway's in the "Nick Adams Stories." Her book is great.

Davis has been writing since she was 6, leaving elegant poems she had written about nature for her father to read. She possesses an MFA from the Iowa's Writer's Workshop. She teaches creative writing at the college level. Davis grew up in Preston until she was 12 and moved to Sterling where the family dairy farm is still in operation. Her family still owns a farm in Norwich.

Her plans for the future are to keep writing. She is working on another novel called "As Long as the Sweet Corn Grows," which is set in modern New London. Davis is considering writing a sequel to "Gravity Hill," as demanded by readers who fell in love with characters and the warm tone of her compelling book.

"Gravity Hill" is the second book of hers published, her award winning collection of short stories being the first. Susanne will pay a visit to Killingly High School on Thursday, April 6.

Susanne is world traveled but ordinarily writes from home. Her favorite book is Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment.” Her books can be found on Amazon and on the shelves of Barnes and Noble.

    Lisa Shasha lives in Norwich.
