Auto briefs: Late night repairs, Hope on Wheels, Bullitt

A limited edition vehicle to celebrate the 50th anniversary of an iconic film scene, a milestone for a fundraising effort to end childhood cancer, and a poll on late night TV hosts and auto repair were among the items promoted by automakers and automotive organizations recently.

[naviga:li]The most memorable part of the 1968 film "Bullitt" is undoubtedly the car chase between a 1968 Ford Mustang driven by Steve McQueen and a couple of pursuing bad guys in a Dodge Charger. Ford is celebrating the 50th anniversary of that film by releasing a limited edition 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. The 480-horsepower vehicle comes with some nods to the vehicle featured in the film, including a cue ball shifter and a green color option that matches the hue of McQueen's vehicle. The Bullitt will go on sale this summer with a sticker price of $46,595.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Hyundai has reached the 20th anniversary of its Hope on Wheels nonprofit organization, which raises funds to fight pediatric cancer. The automaker recognized this milestone at the New York International Auto Show with a launch event hosted by Soledad O'Brien and accompanied by a number of musical performances. The event recognized the institutions and doctors who have received funds from the organization as well as children who have been affected by pediatric cancer. Hyundai Hope on Wheels plans to donate $15 million to 53 institutions in 2018, and to exceed $145 million in cumulative grants in its 20th year.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Which late night TV personality would you trust to work on your vehicle? The Car Care Council recently had some fun by posing this question in a survey issued to more than 22,000 drivers across the country. Jimmy Kimmel edged out Jimmy Fallon, earning 27.6 percent of the vote to Fallon's 27.4 percent. A total of 19.6 percent favored Stephen Colbert, while 14.3 percent trusted the wrench to Trevor Noah and 11.2 percent cast their vote for James Corden.[/naviga:li]
