Registration extended for event matching suppliers, Electric Boat

Groton — Registration has been extended until Friday for an event linking suppliers with Electric Boat procurement personnel.

With EB expecting to more than double its spending on materials as it ramps up submarine production over the next decade, the event, “Leading the Way,” has been scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the Mystic Marriott in Groton.

More than 150 companies have signed up so far, event organizers said Monday.

“The company now has more than 440 suppliers across Connecticut,” Elizabeth Power, an EB spokeswoman, said in a news release. “Over the past five years, we have spent more than $514 million with these suppliers, who provide services that support the broader submarine industrial base.”

Registration is open to businesses and individuals interested in learning more about procurement opportunities at EB. All participants must register in advance. A number of training and business-to-business marketing opportunities will be available during the event, including presentations on cybersecurity and an overview of the Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board’s Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative.

The event is being offered through a partnership of the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers of New England’s Connecticut office, the Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.
