Mystic — The owner of pizza restaurants in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Westport is seeking approval to turn a closed Dunkin shop on Route 1 into his third location.

Ignazio's Mystic LLC and its principal, Louis Termini, is seeking a special use permit for the 64-seat restaurant.

And across the street, Mystic Royal, a international Halal fusion restaurant, is seeking approval to have 45 seats as opposed to the eight it has now.

The Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission will schedule public hearings on both applications. Both Ignazio's and Mystic Royal are seeking liquor permits.

In the application, Ignazio's stated it would be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week, with it closed on Monday. It stated this would be a 50% reduction in hours and traffic compared to the Dunkin, especially in the morning. Fifty-two seats would be indoors and 12 on an outdoor patio at the 42 Williams Ave. location.

"We are dedicated not just to making the best pizza but being a valued member of the community," stated the application, which pointed out the owner's support for youth and adult sports teams in Westport and efforts to partner with local breweries and wineries to sell their products.

Sheuli Solaiman, owner of Mystic Royal at 35 Williams Ave., states in her application that the restaurant would have 31 indoor and 14 outdoor seats, with 39 parking spots and four more on adjacent Avery Street. There would be no change to the restaurant's hours, which are now 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
