    In celebration of National Veterans Small Business Week, the SBA Connecticut District Office in partnership with the Eastern CT Veterans Community Center will host a Veteran Small Business Fair, Nov. 2, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event will be held at Eastern CT Veterans Community Center, 1010 Main St., Willimantic.

    The fair will connect aspiring/current service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouse entrepreneurs exhibiting resources available, including breakout sessions facilitated by subject matter experts.

    GIVING

    Marc Antonino from Girard Toyota in New London presented Michael Finkelstein, the Chief of Police for East Lyme, with a donation for the purchase of exercise equipment for the department. To help first responders provide the best possible service, the Antonino family sought a way to help improve officer wellness. Girard Toyota and the Antonino Family donated $10,000 to purchase new equipment for the public safety building.

    Holmgren Subaru in North Franklin has chosen Sails Up 4 Cancer for Share the Love Partner for Hometown Charity. Over the last 14 years, the Subaru Share the Love Event, Subaru of America Inc. and its participating retailers have donated more than $227 million to charity, with customers choosing between four national charities and over 1,700 hometown charities. Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 17 through Jan. 3 to the purchaser’s choice of four national charities designated by the purchaser: ASPCA, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, Meals On Wheels Association of America, and the National Park Foundation, and at certain participating retailers, purchasers have an additional choice of a Hometown Charity (“Subaru Donation”).
