Grasso seniors enjoyed new building, technology

    Tre’vaughn Taylor

As the 2018-2019 school year came to a close, everyone at the old Grasso building was excited for the brand new, state of the art building that would await us when we returned in August. When the first day of school arrived, everyone seemed in awe of the new building and all of the equipment it held. The seniors experienced the most shock to the new building because they had spent the prior three years in the old building. Almost anything you could imagine having in shop was there. New technology all over the building helped make the education experience feel like it was in the 21st century.

The first month of school was extremely unique for everyone in the building because no one really knew where everything was or how everything worked. Many of the great memories made at the new Grasso building stem from the novelty of the new building and new tech. Naturally there were some bumps in the road as everyone got into the swing of things, but the excitement of the new environment was apparent.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has forced everyone to adopt a new lifestyle which is very different from their previous. The school year was cut short by a few months, which may sound like a blessing to many students, however, this means that the senior end-of-the- year events such as prom, senior trip, and a typical graduation ceremony have been canceled. These events have been on the minds of current seniors since they were freshmen. The cancellation of events like this make it very hard to stay optimistic as it seems that the things the seniors have worked towards have been stripped from them. Even with all the negativity and limitations during this time it is still important that everyone stays optimistic and knows that everything that can be done to make the end of this year as great as possible is being done.
