    Sun waive four players

The Connecticut Sun waived four players Wednesday as some of their veterans and other training camp invitees arrived at training camp.

Connecticut waived centers Kai James and Vionise Pierre-Louis, forward Teana Muldrow and guard Sydney Wallace. WNBA teams are allowed to have up to 15 players at training camp.

Second-year post Beatrice Mompremier had her first practice with the Sun on Wednesday. Fourth-year post Brionna Jones is scheduled to rejoin the team on Thursday. Veteran forward DeWanna Bonner is expected shortly, too.

The Sun's only veterans at Sunday's first day of camp were second-year guard Kaila Charles and third-year guard Natisha Hiedeman. WNBA players regularly arrive late to camp due to their overseas commitments during the offseason. They must also go through COVID-19 quarantine protocol before joining their teams.

WNBA teams must cut their rosters down to at least 12 by May 13. The regular season begins the next day with Connecticut opening at the Atlanta Dream. Its home opener is May 16 against the Phoenix Mercury.
