    A Ruthian Effort

    Waterfordos,

In 1980 the Waterford American Babe Ruth baseball team defied all the expectations and made to the finals of the national Babe Ruth tournament.

This Sunday at 11 a.m. most of the team will gather at the Babe Ruth fields on Rope Ferry Road to pay tribute to Bill Jerome, one of the coaches on the team who has since passed away.

According to team member Nick Petrizzi, fellow Waterford American Lee Goss has built a garden at the ball fields to memorialize Jerome.

We’ll have a full story in the Waterford Times next week, complete with photos of excellent late-70s-early 80s haircuts.
