UConn ranked No. 31 in AP preseason poll

The Associated Press released its Top 25 preseason football poll this morning and as expected, UConn is on the outside looking in. The Huskies are 31st with 32 points and are one of four Big East teams to receive votes.

Pittsburgh and West Virginia are in the Top 25, the Panthers checking in at No. 15 with 516 points and the Mountaineers at No. 25 with 184. Defending Big East champion Cincinnati just missed the Top 25. The Bearcats are No. 26 with 108 points.

Defending national champion Alabama is No. 1 with 54 of 60 first-place votes while Ohio State, Boise State, Florida and Texas round out the top five.

By the way, UConn’s opening game opponent — Michigan — did not receive a single vote. Neither did Tennessee for that matter, but Middle Tennessee received two votes. My, how the college football landscape has changed!

    Enjoy the weekend.
