    What's on Little Man's Bookshelf?

    "Life Size" Series

Little Man is a hardcore book worm. He has loved books since he was old enough to have opinions about things. I remember when he first started crawling, he would crawl into his room where we would literally find him sitting in the middle of a huge pile of books. That being said, he is kind of a toddler connoisseur of books. I thought maybe you would be interested in what he is reading these days, maybe it would give you some ideas for your kids or for kids in your family (these are the books that don't make me want to poke my eyes out having to read them over and over and over and over and over... There are more he likes, but Mama is not quite as big of a fan)

His absolute favorite books right now are the "Life Size" Series. The series is basically life size pictures of all sorts of different animals (you can see some pictures above). He got Life Size Aquarium for a Christmas gift and loved it from the second he got his hands on it. Due to his obsession with it, I felt that I needed to get him the other books in the series, so I ordered Life Size Zoo and More Life Size Zoo. He truly cannot get enough of these books. We talk about the animals every night. Clearly, being able to identify a dugong is essential for a 16-month old. These are books that even elementary school kids would like. There are lots of fun facts about the animals that we don't even look at. Little Man is in it just for the pictures, at this point.

He is also really into the "How Do Dinosaurs..." series. He got three board books from his friends for his birthday. We are big fans of board books in this house, because sometimes excitement gets the best of Little Man, which can lead to ripped pages. But this series has a lot of different books, some in hardcover as well as the board books. We have How Do Dinosaurs Play With Their Friends?, How Do Dinosaurs Learn Their Colors?, and How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?

Remember Little Golden Books? Little Man is slightly obsessed with The Little Red Hen. Are you sensing a theme? I have a little animal fiend on my hands. He truly cannot get enough of animals--looking at them, talking about them, reading about them. The last of his faves is The Hat, which is about Hedgie the Hedgehog and his farm friends.

The last one I put on the list isn't really a book, but I thought I would throw it on the list-- Alphabet Animals flash cards, which I picked up as a last minute Christmas gift. So, you know--we run flash card drills and stuff. By "drills" I mean Little Man throws all the cards on the floor and looks for the "opitahpuh" (any guesses??).

So, hope you find something you might like. I included pictures of everything for you too. Any suggestions for us--what are your kids reading these days?

Oh yeah--as a side note since we are talking about books--Little Man and I LOVE the Waterford Children's Library. Especially on Tuesday (and Wednesday) mornings at 10 and 10:30 when they have Storytime. We like to go and see Miss Nadine. Little Man is really into the music, singing and fun sounds. You should check it out--it is for kids 3 and under.
