Phew, I think that last blog was cleansing. Thank you for all your kind words. I received email from a few of you and while I didn't respond, just know that I appreciated your thoughts. Unfortunately for you, I'm now back to my incessant mommy nonsense.

I have had this insight about being a SAHM. Other than having your husband come home to children who are fed and in one piece (and may or may not be happy), there is not much to show for your day. I mean, I will occasionally fit in a load of laundry or run to the grocery store...but how much positive feedback can one offer up on laundry? "Wow, honey, your folding is amazing!"....yeah...not so much. I think that this lack of tangible productivity is what drives SAHM's to craft and knit and...whatever you can do to have something to show for your SAH-ness. In this regard, I have started some crafting projects I thought I would share with you.

First of all, all of my inspiration has pretty much come from Pinterest. I learned about Pinterest from one of my bloggy friends, Suzanne. She kept talking about it and I was all "blah blah, please stop pushing this on me, crazy woman". And then curiosity got the better of me and oh.my.goodness. Pinterest is basically a virtual pinboard where you can "pin" any ideas or things you find on the internet onto your boards. You have different boards to organize your ideas (home, crafts, kids, food, etc) so the next time you say to yourself "Hey, I saw this idea on the internet I wanted to try but I don't know where I found it", you can just go to your Pinterest board and pull it up. It's truly genius. It has pretty much been running my life for the past couple of weeks. You can follow your friends to see what they are pinning and also just look at everyone's pins to see what is dominating the collective thinking of the Pinterest world.

So, Pinterest has been dictating my meals of late (there is sooooo much yummy stuff posted on Pinterest) and has really sparked my small creativity bug. (I used to think I was really crafty, until I saw what "really crafty" actually meant and I am so not there).

I was looking for some kind of project I could tackle and I still need to decorate (and furnish, if we are being honest) Little Lady's room so I thought I would try her name in yarn-wrapped letters. I put a picture up there for you to see how it is coming out. I am completely in LOVE with it. I plan to add some pink (and maybe green?) embellishments, most likely buttons. If I was a crafting blogger, and not a mommy blogger, I would have taken step by step pictures for you to follow. But really? Just search "yarn wrapped letters" and you can find all sorts of tutorials. I don't have time to be your teacher. I pretty much followed the blog I linked up to, minus the glue gun. Trust me on that--don't take out the glue gun. I promise it will make a mess and it will frustrate you and you will want to quit.

The other project we (me and Little Man) tackled this weekend was home-made glitter playdoh. This project was super quick, super easy, and super cheap. We had most of the stuff already, and just had to buy cream of tartar (does anyone know what that stuff is?) and kool-aid packets. And let me just tell you, the payout of an hour-plus of fairly independent play was totally worth it. Little Man loved it and we have it put away for the next time we are going bonkers trapped in the house.

Lesson learned for me: I feel pretty awesome being able to wave some yarn wrapped letters and home-made playdoh in your face and say "Look how productive I am!". Plus it is a lot easier than waving two kids in your face and saying the same thing.

Lesson learned for you is three-fold: 1. Join Pinterest. TRUST. This is not just for crafters. I didn't tell you about my decorating board, my clothes board, my funny board, my quote board. Yeah, there's something for everyone. Just don't blame me when two hours pass and you have nothing other than Pinterest boards to show for it (ever get sucked into Etsy for hours? It's kind of a similar effect). 2. Get some yarn and wrap some letters. Just maybe use a name that doesn't have A, B, P or R. Those are particularly hard. 3. Make Play-doh for your kid. Seriously, I don't know why you would even buy it. It's totally ridiculous.
