Old Lyme — The town has announced that it will postpone a public information session, originally scheduled for August 27, to allow time for an engineering firm to complete a wastewater management study.

Earlier this month, engineering firm Woodard and Curran updated the Water Pollution Control Authority on the study it is conducting on wastewater management options for the shoreline area.

"To date, the study has netted positive results to facilitate multiple wastewater management options, however, final recommendations cannot be completed until all assumptions and costs are reviewed and confirmed," a town press release stated.

Town officials will try to schedule the meeting as soon as possible. Officials originally scheduled the meeting on August 27 as a convenient time for residents, including summer-time residents.

"The WPCA feels strongly that the details of the complete study, including viable alternatives, capital and lifecycle costs, and non-cost factors, will allow the residents of Old Lyme to choose the best wastewater management system(s) for their community," according to the press release.
